With half the triathlon season already over, the races are coming thick and fast and this weekend saw over 300 competitors travel to Thame in Oxfordshire to take part in the 3rd running of the Thame Triathlon.
Held at Thame Leisure Center, the event is based on the edge of the Chiltern hills and already has a reputation for being one of the fastest sprint triathlons in the triathlon calendar. After the 400m pool based swim, it's a flat out and back 11m bike course and a flat out and back 5k run course on the traffic free Phoenix Trail.
Team Cherwell had another great turnout with 11 members managing to complete the course. First home for the club was Henry Sleight, who after a fantastic season already, managed to finish 6th overall, 4 places up on last year and over a minute quicker in 58mins 19 seconds. Sleight was shortly followed by Stuart Tipton who finished 10th overall in 1hr 8sec and Jimmy Stewert 11th overall in 1hr 21sec.
Gyles Horner who was next back for the club has also had a great season and is going from strength to strength. Horner finished in 1:04:54 and 31st overall. Helen French was the first Team Cherwell lady back in 1:11:47, 104 overall and 2nd in her age group, shortly followed by Heidi Shaw in 1:13:24 and 130th overall.
